Quick Diwali sweets and snacks spread
Happy Diwali

Long work days and Diwali prep do not mix easily. Traditional faral like besan ladoo and gujiya are worth the effort, but they take hours. These six recipes each take 20 minutes or less, use everyday ingredients, and still give you a homemade plate to share instead of a box from the shop.

Tips for busy weeks

Keep a Diwali shelf. Milk powder, condensed milk, desiccated coconut, mixed nuts, cardamom and makhana cover all six recipes.
Long keepers first. Date and nut ladoo and cornflakes chivda keep for 2 weeks, so make them on the first weekend.
Fridge sweets last. Make kalakand and milk powder barfi in the last few days before the festival.
